Tailing Money At The Expenses Of Your Values

Tailing Money At The Expenses Of Your Values

Recently, we did a piece on <a href=”http://flourishafrica.com/2017/10/03/operating-above-your-reality/”>operating above your realities</a> and in it, we spoke about the importance of understanding that your environment does not dictate your REALITY but instead, YOU dictate what you want to see.

In the same vein, we’ve received a couple of very worrisome letters and have seen a number of letters and comments floating around the web that have raised much concern. One thing is looking to be the trend, lines are being blurred due to financial setbacks and difficulty. No one seems to be abiding by any moral values or principles anymore as we all seem to be walking almost zombie-like making and bending the rules as we go along depending on how best they suit our agenda.
<blockquote>However, anyone, they say, who stands for nothing will invariably fall for anything.</blockquote>
Is this the life we’re looking to live? Where does it end and how far are we really willing to go in the guise of wanting to be financially settled. Let’s even define financial fulfillment. What is being financially settled, when is it enough?

Now, don’t get me wrong, money has its perks; it solves a lot of problems, gets you a nice-looking life and let’s be honest, nothing beats comfort. However, are we willing to sacrifice the very core of who we are for few short moments of bliss?

Marriages are ending everyday due to people stepping outside of their marriage in hopes of greener pastures. Nigerian Media Personality, Toke Makinwa recently shared a friend’s story via<a href=”https://twitter.com/tokstarr/status/965511656565563392/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bellanaija.com%2F2018%2F02%2Ftoke-makinwa-shares-story-woman-whose-husband-forged-death-certificate-relocate-us-mistress%2F”> Twitter</a> and yet again, it only further emphasised this point.

This piece seeks to remind you to keep your eyes above and beyond your financial status. Somewhere along the line, we’ve forgotten who we are and that has been compromised. As cliché as it sounds, there’s so much more to life than our finances or the lack thereof. In fact, the more you stress about your income, the less things seemingly take shape.

I am reminded of the bible verse that speaks about the birds and how lackadaisical they tend to be. Yet, they still get fed. How much more us?
<h3><a class=”bibleref” href=”https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+6%3A26&amp;version=ESV”>Matthew 6:26</a></h3>
<blockquote>Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?</blockquote>
The one who has called you, called you for a purpose and it was not to suffer. Let’s be very wary of the times we are in and stay rooted in our value systems otherwise, we really are building a society that we would hate to even exist in. Integrity will become a thing of the past, loving and healthy homes will become obsolete and no one will be trustworthy in business and in relationships.

I know that it gets tough sometimes and it feels like there is no way out but today, I beseech you to hold on and keep your eyes above the econmical situation that surrounds you. Be steadfast in your hardwork and even more steadfast in your faith and prayer.

May God watch over us all.
