Three Supplements That Will do Wonders for Your Skin

Three Supplements That Will do Wonders for Your Skin

We teamed up with our Favourite skintastic girl to share with us some supplements that will give you that natural glow that we’re all seeking.

We all know that we are what we eat but that doesn’t only apply to body mass and weight. It applies to the look and feel of your skin too. Sometimes, however, we’re simply not ingesting the amount of nutrients that our skin needs to feel hydrated and look amazing. That’s where supplements come in  as they are made specially for this purpose.  It is with this notion that we sought the assistance of Mercy Familusi, one of Nigeria’s leading millennial experts in skin and natural hair care.

Her three top picks were: Cod liver oil, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.

1. Cod liver oil.

Cod liver oil is oil obtained from the liver of the codfish. It contains large amounts of Vitamin A, D and omega-3 fatty acids. It is used as a dietary supplement and can be found at most major pharmacies in the vitamin/supplement section. Cod liver oil helps to improve certain diseases of the skin such as rashes or lesions, but not only does it help with skin diseases, it restores the natural plumpiness or the skin making it appear and look great.

2.  Vitamin E.

By now, you might have noticed that every facial and body cream you’ve ever owned all promise to be enriched with Vitamin E. Vitamin E works to block free radicals from the body, which play a large part in the aging process. Fighting off free radicals also means that wrinkles are reduced and the skin is kept youthful-looking. Being an antioxidant, it also accelerates the healing of damaged skin and prevents scars from becoming permanent. In addition, its moisturizing property keeps the skin hydrated and helps repair damaged tissue.

3. Vitamin C

Faster Wound Healing. Your body uses vitamin C to help heal injuries to your skin. Collagen helps not only to close wounds, but also to create scar tissue that helps protect the site. Slow wound healing can be a sign of vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin C like Vitamin E is also an antioxidant which the body uses to fight off harmful free radicals. Many of these are produced when ultraviolet radiation from the sun comes into contact with your body, and a lack of vitamin C can leave you with a reduced ability to fight them off naturally.
